About Muare
Muare is an in-browser document studio designed to give PDFs and images the appearance of documents that have been scanned, photocopied or stored in an archive.
How does it work?
- Choose a PDF or one or more JPG/JPEG, PNG or WebP images from your device. PDFs and images cannot be mixed in the same selection; each image is processed as a separate page.
- Start with a ready appearance, then adjust the fine controls and the regional application of supported effects. If needed, add one active visual signature, stamp or watermark layer.
- Compare the processed result with the original and export it as PDF, JPEG or PNG.
Input and output formats
Input
PDF, JPG/JPEG, PNG and WebP. You can select one PDF or up to 100 images at a time.
Output
PDF, JPEG (.jpg) and PNG. Multi-page JPEG and PNG results are downloaded in a ZIP archive.
WebP is input only. ZIP is not a standalone document format; it is a download package for multi-page JPEG or PNG files.
Document appearance tools
Alongside No effects, you can start with the Light scan, Photocopy, Old archive, Poor scanner or Fax appearances. Fine controls and regional application let you customise the appearance and compare the original and processed pages.
- Only one active layer can be used at a time for a visual signature, stamp image, image watermark or text watermark. A visual signature is not a cryptographic or qualified electronic signature.
- Page size can be Source, A4 or Letter; orientation can be Automatic, Portrait or Landscape. The outer margin can be adjusted from 0–30 mm.
- Fast, Balanced and High quality profiles are available for PDF, JPEG and PNG outputs.
A saved appearance stores the name you provide, effect settings and regional application settings in this browser. It does not store document content, the layer, page layout, output format or output quality.
Local and offline approach
The main document and layer image are not uploaded to Muare’s application server; reading, processing and export take place in your browser. Muare can be installed in supported browsers and used without a connection after offline preparation is complete.
If browser data is cleared or the operating system frees storage space, saved appearances and offline preparation may be lost. An internet connection may be required to prepare the app again.
Technical limits
- Pages are recreated as images. Selectable text, links, forms, bookmarks and digital signatures in the input PDF may not be preserved.
- PDF input is limited to 50 MB and 100 pages. Images are limited to 20 MB per file, 80 MB per selection and 100 files.
- Processing time depends on file size, page count, device memory and browser performance.
- Only one active layer can be used in the editor at a time; the persistence of offline resources is not guaranteed.
